There is something about October that makes me want to slow down.
The changing leaves. The cooler mornings. The candles. The cozy blankets. The little reminders that another season is beginning.
But maybe this October, we don’t need to rush into the next thing.
Maybe we can simply be still.
As women, especially mothers, it can feel like there is always something waiting for us. Another deadline. Another load of laundry. Another appointment. Another goal. Another thing we haven’t finished yet.
And somewhere along the way, we can begin believing that if we’re not constantly doing something, we’re falling behind.
But falling behind whom?
God?
We cannot outwork Him.
We cannot make His plans happen faster by exhausting ourselves. We cannot earn His love by being productive. And we don’t become more valuable because our calendar is full.
Psalm 46:10 says, “Be still, and know that I am God.”
Stillness isn’t laziness.
Rest isn’t failure.
And an unfinished to-do list isn’t an emergency.
Sometimes trusting God looks like putting something down and saying, “Lord, I trust You with this.”
It looks like taking the day slowly.
It looks like praying instead of panicking.
It looks like opening your Bible instead of opening another tab.
It looks like enjoying your children, drinking your coffee, taking the walk, lighting the candle, sitting quietly, and remembering that your life doesn’t have to be rushed to be meaningful.
And maybe that’s what I want most for this month.
Not to accomplish more.
But to know Him more.
John 3:30 says, “He must increase, but I must decrease.”
So welcome, October. 🍂
May this be a month where we release the pressure to have everything figured out.
May we stop treating every deadline like the end of the world.
May we trust that what God has for us will not require us to become someone we were never created to be.
And may we remember that while we’re busy trying to hold everything together, God has never stopped being God.
So take a breath, friend.
You don’t have to do everything today.
You don’t have to prove your worth.
You don’t have to rush into the next season.
Slow down. Be still. Seek Jesus.
Let October be beautiful, not because everything is finished, but because you are learning to enjoy the God who is with you while you’re still becoming.
🍂 Welcome, October.
Less striving. More surrender.
Less rushing. More Jesus.
