Surrender Is a Posture, Not a Moment

Surrender is not a one- time prayer whispered in desperation. It is a daily posture of the heart that says, “God, You know better than I do and I trust You.”

When I read the Word I love deep diving even into the words that tie into scripture. Like abiding, prudence, and as of lately, surrender. Not just a definition of a word, but what God says about it.

Spiritually, surrender means laying down our need to control outcomes, manage perceptions, and protect ourselves from discomfort. It is choosing obedience over understanding and faith over familiarity. I understand and can relate to this so much because I have had to fight through this on and off for over a year. Truly surrendering to God.

True surrender begins where self- control ends.

Abiding in Jesus: The Fruit of Surrender

Jesus says in John 15, “Abide in Me.” Abiding is not striving, it is remaining.

When we surrender, we stop performing for God and start resting in Him. We learn how to stay connected to Jesus not only when life feels good, but when life feels uncertain, painful, or silent. I heard once, “You have to know how to trust God even when you can’t trace Him.” I carry that in my heart daily.

Abiding teaches us:

  • How to wait without anxiety
  • How to obey without needing answers
  • How to trust without visible proof

Surrender and abiding go hand in hand. You cannot abide while clinging to control.

Learning to Live Well and Suffer Well

One of the hardest truths of the Christian walk is this:

Faith does not exempt us from suffering, it gives us meaning in it.

Living well means walking in truth, obedience, humility, and love.

Suffering well means staying faithful when it costs something.

Both require surrender.

Suffering exposes where we still want control. It presses us into dependence. And when surrendered, suffering becomes a place of intimacy rather than isolation.

God’s Peace Beyond Understanding

The peace of God doesn’t always remove the storm, but it anchors your soul in middle of it.

This peace is not logical.

It doesn’t match circumstances.

It cannot be explained away.

It comes when we stop fighting God and start trusting Him.

Surrender positions your heart to receive a peace that surpasses understanding not because life is easy, but because God is near.

Philippians 1:29 Faith and Suffering Are Both Gifts

“For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for His sake.”

This verse reminds me that faith and suffering are not random. They are granted, entrusted by God.

Faith saves us.

Suffering shapes us.

Surrender keeps us connected to Jesus through both.

When we surrender, we stop asking, “Why is this happening?” and start praying, “Lord, what are You forming in me?”

Final Encouragement

Surrender is not weakness. It is strength in submission.

It is choosing God’s way when yours feels safer.

It is trusting Jesus even when you don’t understand the path.

It is learning how to live well and suffer well without losing your peace.

And the more you surrender, the more you realize: God has been holding you the entire time.

So yeah, yep, and yes! That has been my most recent breakthrough. God is truly so good.

So yeah, 😌

Until next time, stay rooted in truth, anchored in Scripture, and courageous enough to choose Jesus even when it costs you comfort.

We’re not here for surface faith, lukewarm living, or borrowed beliefs.

We’re here to surrender fully, walk boldly, and let God do the deep work.

Grace is still greater.

Jesus is still Lord.

And the story isn’t over yet.
